Pyramids were brought to America by German immigrants in the 1700’s. They were originally made in the Erzgebirge region of Germany and considered a symbol of light. There were a lot of miners in the area, and to them it was considered a good luck charm because the light symbolized the safe return from the dark mines.
When the Christmas trees became increasingly popular in the 1800’s, they started making them in the shape of a tree with different levels.
Today, they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and are still considered a symbol of life.
