Doll Care:

How to Care for Rooted Hair

  • We recommend you use a wire hair brush without burls. Using plastic brushes or combs will sometimes cause static in your doll's hair.
  • Brush your doll's hair the same way you would brush your own. Start at the bottom working your way up. Sometimes you may see some hair fibers that will come out which is normal.
  • To wash your doll's hair, rinse it out gently under lukewarm water. Do not immerse the entire head into the water to avoid water penetration into the head. There is no need to use shampoos as the chemicals in these can cause damage to your doll's hair. Plain water is all that is needed.
  • To dry the hair, gently shake the water out or you can use a soft towel by patting it dry. Let the hair air dry and then brush as described above. If water should run into the dolls eyes, simply lay the doll face down so while the hair dries, the water will run out of the eyes.
  • Do not use a blow dryer on your doll's hair or leave the doll sit in the hot sunlight. The hair is made of artificial fibers which can cause the hair to get sticky if too much heat is applied.

How to Care for Kanekalon Hair

  • Kanekalon hair can be washed in cold or lukewarm water. Use a mild baby shampoo and a good conditioner. When drying, do not rub that hair to harshly to avoid release of the hair fibers.
  • Do not use a blow dryer on your doll's hair or leave the doll sit in the hot sunlight. The hair is made of artificial fibers which can cause the hair to get sticky if too much heat is applied.

How to Maintain Vinyl Parts

To clean your doll, simply wipe off with a damp cloth. To remove more stubborn dirt, you can use bar or dish soap. Do not use harsh chemical cleaning agents as they my cause discolorations.

How to Maintain Soft Body Parts

The soft bodies on these dolls are made from strainable cotton or velours and can be washed off with a damp cloth. Let air dry for a longer time so that the filling dires. Soft bodied dolls are NOT suitable for machine washing.

Rooted Hair vs. Kanekalon Wig:

Rooted hair is stitched directly into the vinyl head of the doll. The fibers are sewn in from the outside and interlocked on the inside. Rooted hair is very durable and suited best for younger children.

Wigs that are made from kanekalon resemble the natural appearance of human hair. This is because the fibers are mixed in several similar colors and are also thinner than the fibers in rooted hair. Aside from this, because of the finer texture of the hair, it is easier to create more complexe hair styles. The hair fibers are are then sewn into a fabric cap and then the cap is glued firmly onto the doll's head. Collectors usually prefer the natural appearance of the kanekalon wigs.
